NC Fundraising - Obama Up 3 to 1
Heavy support from the Triangle -- and from supporters of John Edwards -- helped Democrat Barack Obama outraise Hillary Clinton nearly 3 to 1 among N.C. donors last month, reflecting his huge cash advantage heading into the state's May 6 primary.
North Carolinians gave Obama nearly $607,000 in March, three times more than they gave Clinton, according to an Observer analysis of campaign reports. Nationally, the Illinois Democrat raised twice as much as the New York senator last month.

The Obama Watch is Over - Obama to Meet Wallace
Take That Chris Wallace!
Looks like The Obama Watch is Over!
Source - FOX News Sunday's "Obama Watch" to Stop This Weekend
FOX News Sunday host Chris Wallace will sit down for an exclusive one-on-one interview with Democratic Presidential Candidate Senator Barack Obama airing on Sunday April 27, 2008.
This interview follows the much talked about "Obama Watch" clock that FOX News Sunday began running on March 16, 2008 to track the time that had lapsed since Senator Obama accepted Wallace's initiation to appear as a guest: 730 days, 13 hours, 53 minutes and 18 seconds.
The last clock count as of last Sunday was 765 days, 13 hours, 54 min, 47 seconds.Jenna Bush for Obama? Larry King Video
What a turn of events this could be.
Source - In Republican circles, this could constitute a form of sacrilege. Speaking on Larry King Live last night, first daughter Jenna Bush, who appeared alongside first lady Laura Bush, confessed that she's not sure if she'll vote for the presumptive Republican nominee for president, Sen. John McCain, and even left open the possibility that she'd support either Sen. Barack Obama or Sen. Hillary Clinton.
KING: Do you have a favorite between the two, the two Democrats?
LAURA BUSH: My favorite is the Republican.
KING (pointing to Jenna): Yours too, I would imagine.
JENNA BUSH: I don't know.
KING: A-ha! Are you open to...
JENNA BUSH: Yeah, of course. I mean, who isn't open to learning about the candidates and I'm sure that everybody's like that.

Obama Hand Over Heart Controversy
I received an email today about the whole Pledge of Allegiance controversy and Obama. I find these silly but thought I would investigate more on this issue and found some interesting things. Just another NON-ISSUE distraction like the flag pin.
Here is a photo of Obama WITH his hand over his heart.
Here is a photo of Dubya Bush with his hand over his ???stomach????....
Here is the original video. It was the National Anthem and not the Pledge as many emails and sites claim. Maybe this doesn't make things "better" for some folks but it does create clarity. Protocol for the National Anthem does say that "the hand must be over the heart" but personally I don't do it every time. I guess Obama should have done it but the email suggests the following "oh......and then you have this clown, who refuses to place his hand on his heart and say the pledge......" Geez....REALLY? CLOWN? Oh my...

Edwards Former Campaign Manager Endorses Obama
Is John Edwards Next?
If so it better be next week.
"...a key adviser to former Democratic presidential candidate John Edwards threw his support behind Obama on Wednesday.
Ed Turlington, a Raleigh lawyer and Edwards' former campaign manager, was among 49 Edwards supporters to endorse Obama.
"Barack Obama and John Edwards share a commitment to taking on special interests and standing up for regular Americans. Along with Edwards supporters from across the state, I am honored to join Sen. Obama's movement for change,” Turlington said in a statement. “As president, he will bring together Democrats, Republicans and independents behind an agenda of change."
Other Edwards supporters endorsing Obama include former state House Majority Leader Phil Baddour, state Secretary of Cultural Resources Lisbeth Evans, former state Supreme Court justices Henry Frye and Willis Whichard, former Charlotte mayor and U.S. Senate candidate Harvey Gantt and University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill board chairman Roger Perry." Oklahoma Governor Endorses Obama
Governor Brad Henry is endorsing Illinois Senator Barack Obama for the Democratic presidential nomination.
In a statement released by the Obama press office in Chicago, Henry called Obama an inspirational leader who can unite the country. He says the senator will be able to move beyond the divisiveness and partisanship that has characterized Washington politics.
The endorsement gives Obama the official support of 3 of Oklahoma's 10 superdelegates, while Hillary Rodham Clinton has the backing of 1 superdelegate. The rest are uncommitted.
Henry -- a moderate Democrat in a Republican-trending state -- says his own efforts to build a consensus across party lines is why he's so enthusiastic about Obama's candidacy.
Democrats still have a majority of registered voters in Oklahoma, but the state has voted Republican in every presidential election since 1964. Source

Campaign Spot - On the Verge of a Stunner in Pennsylvania?
"Hold on to your hats. I've gotten the usual word of the exit poll results from one of my usual reliable sources. He notes that Obama traditionally over-performs in the earliest exit polls, and that he expects the numbers to change as the night wears on - perhaps a reversal.
But right now, the exits are saying Obama 52 percent, Clinton 47 percent.
Take these results with the usual grains of salt and skepticism. I'm told that Obama is carrying blue collar workers two to one, and he's winning Philadelphia in the neighborhood of three to one."
As usual, if you're a Pennsylvanian and haven't voted yet, don't let these or any other numbers discourage you.

Infamous blogger releases his voting choice in a statement
"Two campaigns, neither especially aimed at getting my vote. I'm sensible enough to know that neither of them should have been aiming their campaigns at me, but the point is both candidates have said and done plenty which have ticked me off over the past several months. I'll vote for Obama today, though there was certainly a period when I would have likely gone the other way."
Richard Nixon's Daughter Endorses Obama
NewYork Times - If the children who have inhabited the White House are America’s princes and princesses, Senator Barack Obama already got a head start in collecting royal blessings with Caroline Kennedy’s endorsement earlier this year.
But soon after Ms. Kennedy made her very public endorsement at the end of January, one of her predecessors of Republican lineage made her own private one.

Pump it Up - Obama Opposes Gas Tax Holiday
"Policy differences between Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton have been far and few, but a new one emerged on Monday over a proposed gas tax holiday. Obama says he’s against while Clinton says she’s in favor, putting her on the same side as John McCain, who proposed such a holiday last week.
Earlier Monday at a community college in the Philadelphia suburbs, Obama rejected a tax holiday as bad economic policy. “I’ve said I think John McCain’s proposal for a three-month tax holiday is a bad idea,” Obama said, warning consumers that any price cut would be short lived before costs spike back." Are they brothers? Are you kidding me? And what's up with the HUMM? Like Rattle and Hum? Like hmmmm?
"Byrd said that the message wasn't meant to be racial or political.
"It's simply to cause people to realize and to see what possibly could happen if we were to get someone in there that does not believe in Jesus Christ," he said.
When asked if he believes that Barack Obama is Muslim, Byrd said, "I don't know. See it asks a question: Are they brothers? In other words, is he Muslim? I don't know. He says he's not. I hope he's not. But I don't know. And it's just something to try to stir people's minds. It was never intended to hurt feelings or to offend anybody."
Obama has said repeatedly during his campaign that he is a Christian and attends Trinity United Church of Christ in Chicago."

CBS North Carolina Democrat Debate Nixed
Personally, I am glad about this. Obama said it well at his speech in Raleigh. There have been enough debates, they each can say the other candidate's lines. And if North Carolina gets a debate, Indiana will want one too. (thanks for the tip Johnny)
WRAL - A proposed debate in Raleigh between Democratic presidential candidates Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton has been called off, officials said Monday.
CBS had agreed to host a debate next Sunday at the RBC Center and televise the event nationally. Clinton agreed to the date, but Obama, who had earlier committed to an April 19 debate, said repeatedly he wasn't sure whether he could fit an April 27 debate into his campaign schedule." MORE

Financial Times Endorses Obama
"Barack Obama goes into Tuesday’s Pennsylvania primary as strong favourite, whatever happens, to secure the Democratic presidential nomination. Yet the vote could still go either way.
This is a sign of how close this race has been and how deeply it has divided the party." MORE
Michael Moore Endorses Obama but Vote Doesn't Count
Michael Moore pleads to Pennsylvania voters to vote for Barack Obama.
Friends,
I don't get to vote for President this primary season. I live in Michigan. The party leaders (both here and in D.C.) couldn't get their act together, and thus our votes will not be counted.
So, if you live in Pennsylvania, can you do me a favor? Will you please cast my vote -- and yours -- on Tuesday for Senator Barack Obama?
Full Letter35,000 Hear Obama Speak
Huffington Post - "Barack Obama was greeted by the largest crowd of his campaign Friday night in Philadelphia. Some 35,000 people jammed into Independence Park to see the Democratic presidential candidate, four days before this state's crucial April 22 primary.
Frank Friel, director of security at the Independence Visitor Center, made the official estimate.
The crowd exceed the 30,000 who greeted Obama and Oprah Winfrey in December in Columbia, S.C."
Raleigh and Durham Mayors Endorse Obama
Raleigh Mayor Charles Meeker and Durham Mayor Bill Bell have both announced that they will be endorsing Barack Obama for President just a couple of weeks before the North Carolina Primary.
Along with Bell and Greensboro Mayor Yvonne Johnson, the story also quotes Bell saying Raleigh Mayor Charles Meeker, Cary Mayor Harold Weinbrecht, Chapel Hill Mayor Kevin Foy, Asheville Mayor Terry Bellamy, Boone Mayor Loretta Clawson and Carrboro Mayor Mark Chilton have endorsed Obama.
