The Audacity of Listening - NY Times Op-ed

We have to have a talk about Barack Obama.

I know, I know. You’re upset. You think the guy you fell in love with last spring is spending the summer flip-flopping his way to the right. Drifting to the center. Going all moderate on you. So you’re withholding the love. Also possibly the money.

I feel your pain. I just don’t know what candidate you’re talking about.

Think back. Why, exactly, did you prefer Obama over Hillary Clinton in the first place? Their policies were almost identical — except his health care proposal was more conservative. You liked Barack because you thought he could get us past the old brain-dead politics, right? He talked — and talked and talked — about how there were going to be no more red states and blue states, how he was going to bring Americans together, including Republicans and Democrats.

Exactly where did everybody think this gathering was going to take place? Left field?

Not sure what to think about all this.....
"You are probably not that good a rapper. Maybe you are the next Lil' Wayne, but probably not, in which case you need to stay in school," Obama stated at a recent campaign event in Powder Springs, GA...."You are over-rated in your own mind. You will not play in the NBA."

Mr. November - The National Design Obama Shirt

I have seen The National live three times now, so it seems only fitting that they would be one of the bands to design an Obama shirt. Mr. November refers to a song on the band's album Alligator and well, ummm....the election that Obama will soon win. The shirts are 100% American Apparel and 100% of the proceeds will go to Obama. Now that's what I call patriotism.

Obama to Deliver Denver Speech to 75,000

Bring on the masses....Obama will give his acceptance speech (45 years to the date after MLK's 'I Have a Dream' speech) to 75,000 at Invesco Field (formerly Mile High Stadium) in Denver. I'm sure there will be lots of similarities and textual references.

Vice President? Kathleen Sebelius Profile

Remember all the talk about Kathleen Sebelius as Vice President? It keeps picking up steam. Walter Shapiro has a great profile of her over at Salon.

Obama veepstakes: The other woman

She's no Hillary Clinton, but Kathleen Sebelius, the popular governor of Kansas, may have a shot at being Barack's running mate.

"Kathleen Sebelius -- the silver-haired two-term Democratic governor of mostly ultra-Republican Kansas -- is a passionate advocate of political moderation, as oxymoronic as that may seem. Discussing the Republican Party's lurch to the far right in a speech last week to the centrist Democratic Leadership Council, Sebelius said, "It gives an enormous opportunity for Democrats to reintroduce themselves as the sensible, pragmatic, practical approach to coalition government. That is what attracted me to Barack Obama in the first place."

Since endorsing Obama in late January, Sebelius has been a tireless campaigner for the Illinois senator, who has Kansas roots on his mother's side."

An Inconvenient Truth Director Making Obama Documentary

Huffington Post reports that "Davis Guggenheim, the director of An Inconvenient Truth, is making a (seemingly secret) documentary about Barack Obama that will apparently air at the Democratic National Convention in Denver, Col. next month."

I wonder what this means for Edward Norton's plans for an Obama documentary film? And it's not this documentary.
